The project reimagines the typology of the zoo as an ecological habitat for the Brown shrike, a local migratory bird threatened by pesticide use and poaching. By regenerating the soil of former animal compounds into ideal habitats for insects, frogs, and the small mammals that form part of the Brown shrike’s food chain, the now-derelict zoo becomes a sanctuary for a whole web of life. Sometimes buried in the ground, sometimes rising over abandoned structures high up into the tree canopies, a steel path allows visitors to experience this new, ecological take on their local zoo.
